Small Business Office Equipment

Many people think of a small business as something that someone runs out of their garage — or at the very least, a home office.  However, in many cases a small business rents and furnishes office space, just like any other business.

Here is some office equipment that every small business owner should have:

  • Computers.  Most small businesses these days use computers for at least some aspect of their business, even if it’s only invoicing and record keeping.
  • Printers.  Being able to print stuff off of the computer is also a necessity for a small business.
  • Copy machines.  Businesses often need to make copies of things.  Whether you get an all-in-one printer, or a real copy machine, having the ability to do this will save you from making a field trip to find a copy machine all the time.
  • Paper cutters.  There are many paper cutters out there for small business owners to choose from, from inexpensive guillotine cutters to high-tech paper stack cutters.
  • Binding machines.  If your business self-publishes documents or frequently puts together presentations, you might want your own binding machine, as having this done for you is usually pretty expensive.

Obviously there is a lot to think about when getting equipment for a fully functioning office for a small business — and this doesn’t even include other necessities, such as office furniture and stuff for your employees’ break room!  Your best bet is to make a complete list of all the things you will need, and then go shopping!
