Higher Search Engine Rankings

How Blogging Helped My Website

When I started a blog on my business website more than two years ago, I actually wasn’t thinking about marketing.  I didn’t know anything about PageRank, Internet marketing services, or any of that kind of thing.  I simply thought of my blog as a kind of business-related online journal.

As it turned out, though, my blog was worth much more to me than that.  Two years later, I have much higher search engine rankings than I would have had otherwise.  (And yes, I finally learned what that meant.)  Because one of the factors Google uses to determine PageRank is how frequently the website is updated, a blog that is updated frequently (and is part of the same URL as your main website) can really improve your website’s search engine rankings.

I also have a lot of friends in the blogosphere who read my blog regularly and link back to it, sending their readers to me as well.  Occasionally I’ll get random links from bloggers and website owners whom I don’t know at all.  This is the kind of thing that companies who offer link popularity services do, except on a larger scale, of course: A link building expert gets you all sorts of links pointing back to your site from other places on the Web, which makes your site look more popular and relevant to Google, thereby helping to boost your PageRank.

Of course, my blog can’t do it all for my website — it can only help.  The next step is to hire an Internet marketing company to improve my online visibility even further using their link building services!
